Katarina Klemenc is Novartis Country Communications Head for Slovenia. Katarina joined Novartis (then Lek) in October 1998.
In her role Katarina is responsible for strategy development and execution for internal communications & employee engagement, external communications & public relations, executive positioning and communications, corporate brand management, crisis/issues communications, eCommunications, and corporate responsibility communications. She has built an impactful and business-oriented communications function at Lek which has developed into a Novartis Country Communications function.
From October 1990, during the formative years of professional services in public relations in Slovenia, Katarina was one of the earliest practicing PR professionals in the country, first as PR and Communications manager and later on as Senior Account Director at the Koda Studio Advertising & Public relations agency in Slovenia. She was in charge of several key accounts, spanning across the FMCG sector, automobile industries, agronomy, public administration and non-governmental organizations.
During her studies she published articles for the Slovene lay and professional print media and worked as a presenter on a weekly TV show aimed at youth, on Slovenia’s national broadcasting service. She also worked as one of local support for Time magazine in former Yugoslavia. During the 1991 war in Slovenia she was a local coordinator for the CBS television network.
Katarina has Master’s degree from the Faculty of Social Sciences in Ljubljana, with one of the first theses written in the field of listening in Slovenia (Listening of global company in local environment). She is a graduate of the General Management Program at the IEDC Bled Business School. She is a member of the Public Relations Society of Slovenia and the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) and has received IABC awards at the regional and global level.
She is mother of two girls, age 14 and 11, and lives in Ljubljana, Slovenia.
