Sustainability - Progress for Success

We are witnessing global changes that are impacting the planet Earth. Every individual, and especially organizations, regardless of whether they are corporations, small and medium-sized enterprises, or non-profit organizations (NGOs), must understand sustainable development and get involved to contribute to it together and by their capabilities.

Representatives of the communication industry, including the media, have one of the biggest responsibilities for understanding, educating, and raising public awareness. Sustainable development is based on several elements. Communicating “green” sends a message about sustainability, about human coexistence on planet Earth, and the very beginnings of sustainability go far back in history into sustainable heritage.

This is exactly why we want to give importance to the place of centuries-old history, culture, and tradition in Rome because many before us in Rome and some other civilizations laid the foundations of sustainable development.

 

We divided communication in Rome into two thematic areas, “Green communication, green responsibility” and “Sustainable heritage”. We want to see how sustainability can help each of us. We want to share the knowledge and thoughts of communication experts, and media representatives so that together they can inspire sustainable development through stories from practice. Together we can do more, so I invite you to be a part of this event, to be a part of communication innovation and creativity. Welcome to Rome. Why PRO PR conference?

This year, I had the privilege of attending the PROPR conference for the first time. Before it even began, my expectations were quite high due to the impressive list of speakers, and I was eagerly looking forward to new topics and potential connections. However, the conference exceeded all my expectations.The wealth of content offered, exceptional speakers who shared their knowledge and experience, flawless organization that ensured the smooth running of the event, as well as the friendly and approachable organizers – all contributed to making the conference an unforgettable experience. Not only the program was impressive, but the overall atmosphere and energy were also inspiring and motivating. This conference convinced me that a good conference is not just a list of great lectures and panels, but much more than that. It brought together people, ideas, and passions in a unique way. The beautiful location where the conference was held further enhanced the overall experience. Now, I eagerly await the next conference, already considering attending this event as my annual obligation, something I must not miss. This conference has definitely set a high standard for all future events I will attend.

The invitation to participate in the 21st Pro PR conference for students represented an opportunity for additional understanding of the essence and perspectives of work in the field of communications and public relations. The three-day event, held in the beautiful surroundings of the Mona Plaza Hotel in Belgrade, was not only a meeting place with colleagues from the profession, but also contributed to the inspiration for further professional development, both for students and employees at the Faculty. Also, conferences of this type always contribute to the application of knowledge and the exchange of opinions, especially in the domain of trends and the future of PR, but also the possibility of critically reflecting on different experiences and case studies, as well as connecting everything we learn and do. A strong impression was made by lectures and presentations by experts from from abroad such as Charles Skinner from Great Britain, Rafael Llopis from Spain and Eleonora Albijanić from Montenegro. The last panel, THE FUTURE OF MEDIA AND PR - A RECIPE FOR A HAPPY RELATIONSHIP, was particularly interesting. This discussion opened up new possible perspectives on the relationship between the media and the PR profession, challenges and strategies that will shape the profession in the coming years. We would like to thank the organizers for the invitation and the opportunity to attend this important event, to gain new contacts and gain insight into the most current practices in the country and abroad, in the field of communications and public relations.

If any of the 200+ delegates who attended this year’s PRO PR conference left without learning anything they were either geniuses or asleep during the lectures. I had the chance to present Muck Rack's 2024 State of Journalism report for the first time at the PRO PR CONFERENCE in Belgrade, Serbia. The conference brought together PR leaders from every part of the globe. It was fascinating to see how much our global data resonated with everyone. -Journalists are less likely to use G-AI tools than PRs but are still embracing them for behind the scenes work -X is still the most popular social network for journalists. LinkedIn, TikTok and Instagram are gaining traction. None of the X replacements have taken off according to journalists -Keeping your pitches short and relevant are still key I was also grateful to see Golin's Global President of Data and Analytics Jonny Bentwood present on data storytelling and the tools he invests in. He's clearly leading the industry on making sure AI tools are part of his tech stack for the major brands they represent. Thank you for your constant partnership and for coming to Belgrade to share. If I were to summarize the impressions from this year's PRO.PR in three terms, it would look like this: truth, network and artificial intelligence. The truth, which I experience as a timeless postulate of the profession, found its rightful place in the presentations that we had the opportunity to hear and I think, not that it is not superfluous, but that it is necessary to repeat, repeat, repeat. Not only to preserve the essence of the industry, but also to ensure that we pass that code on to colleagues just starting their careers in PR. I link the creation and identification of a profession to the recognition of the importance of the network and the communication that generates it, between individuals and groups that combine common interests. In addition to the human, responsible for the evolution of communication, the network also has a strong technological stamp, which is already a kind of revolution in the practice of the profession, represented by the image (and work) of artificial intelligence. Whether AI will be a tool or a revolution itself remains to be seen, and we won't have to wait long for the answer. I am of the opinion that artificial intelligence will never take the lead, although it will be, and already is, a very useful tool for carrying out everyday PR tasks. I'm curious to hear if we'll get those answers already at the next PRO.PR, which I'm looking forward to in advance because of the great energy it's been accumulating and broadcasting for more than two decades. This comes to you as a self-sustaining system of information, joy and business opportunities, in which you discover a new layer of personal and professional satisfaction each time.

Networking in motion

I am proud that under the auspices of the PRO PR Conference, the leading international education platform in Southeast Europe, we launched a communication conference regarding the green responsibility of the communication industry under the motto “Green communication, green responsibility” for the first time in the world in 2023 at the Plitvice Lakes. I wanted this topic to be discussed in a focused manner every year, which is why I decided to put Rome on the world map to connect leading experts in the field of communications with an emphasis on public relations who will talk about their projects, about common global challenges that will allow us to understand better together why sustainable development and the goals of sustainable development are important.

Environmental, social, and governance (ESG) represent a communication challenge of implementation and understanding, and it is logically connected to sustainable development. We are aware, studying so far, that numerous civilizations have left us a heritage of guidelines, but also the applications of sustainable development.

 

There are numerous strategic documents, there is an awareness that both through legal regulations and through independent initiatives can be created greater interest and provision of good examples from practice for sustainable development. Through the conference, we want to do even more for the planet we live on, for the planet that has fed us for centuries, and for the planet that teaches us about sustainability through its ecosystem. As a consultant in the field of strategic communication, I want to encourage the communication industry to speak and discuss more about this topic and for it to become a global guideline in itself through the conference in Rome. I am grateful for the mission that was given to me. Under the motto “Networking in motion” I connect people, so I believe that this mission will also be realized at this conference. Each of us has our mission in sustainability, especially those of us from the communications industry. I hope to see you in Rome. PRO PR Globe Awards – Bring Out the Best

In 2012, Danijel Koletić created the concept of the PRO PR Globe Awards as the first awards program in the world focused on individuals who deal with the public relations sector and are part of communication management. So since its foundation until today, recognitions have been annually given in this category from all continents to individuals whose creative activities positively impacted different areas of work.

Since 2019, four world associations: PRCA (Public Relations and Communication Association), IPRA (International Public Relations Association), ICCO (International Communications Consultancy Organization), and CIPR (Chartered Institute of Public Relations), have been involved in the nomination process either directly or through the winners participating in the nomination process.

With the aim of rewarding team successes through projects that created a certain awareness and effect on the processes of the organization or social community, Danijel Koletić made a decision, and after analyzing all the leading award programs at the world or national level, launched the PRO PR Globe Communication Achievement Awards.

Together with his team in 2023, he started the process of analyzing the situation and defined award categories that do not exist nor are they awarded for successes in specific areas that also require communication skills. Thus, the PRO PR Globe Communication Achievement Awards has a total of 25 categories, of which seven (PRO PR Globe Heritage Communication Achievement Awards, PRO PR Globe Music Discography Communication Achievement Awards, PRO PR Globe Green Industry Communication Achievement Awards, PRO PR Globe National Park Communication Achievement Awards, PRO PR Globe Winery Communication Achievement Awards, PRO PR Globe University Communication Achievement Awards and PRO PR Globe Agriculture Communication Achievement Awards) are appearing globally for the first time. In this way, a contribution is made to the communication industry, but its history is also changed and new standards are set. I would especially like to thank Jacqueline Purcell and Charles Skinner who, with their guidance, contributed to the PRO PR Globe Communication Achievement Awards having its uniqueness.
